Guwahati, February 28, 2026: The Rotary Club of Gauhati South (RCGS) donated a Swargarath to Kalia Kanai Smashan Samiti at Bhetapara in a solemn ceremony held at the Kalia Kanai Smashan premises on Friday.The handing-over ceremony was attended by around 63 people, including Rotarians, members of the Smashan Samiti, and local residents. Rtn Priyama Goswami, President of RCGS, led the Rotary delegation. Also present were AGM, SBI, Sri Sujit Dey; Foundation Chair of Rotary District 3240, PDG Rtn Prabhat Kedia; and AG Zone 9, Rtn Vikash Bajaj.The Swargarath van was procured through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from the State Bank of India (SBI) to provide dignified and timely funeral transportation services to the local community.Members of the Smashan Samiti and residents appreciated the initiative. The Swargarath was formally flagged off by SBI officials and Rotarians, marking the start of its service for the benefit of the people.
