Overview
The thematic session on Dementia and Alzheimer’s began with Rtn. Rajkamal Bhuyan introducing Guest Speaker Ms. Anusuya Borkotoky (Psychologist). He highlighted her expertise and contributions to dementia care, while also giving a brief overview of Dementia and Alzheimer’s, stressing their rising impact, the importance of early diagnosis, and the challenges for patients and caregivers. Ms. Borkotoky was then felicitated before delivering her talk on “Awareness and Understanding of Dementia: Treatment, Care, and Lifestyle Strategies.” She explained the causes, symptoms, treatment options, and supportive lifestyle measures to improve patient and family well-being. Emphasizing psychological support, caregiver education, and community involvement, she offered practical insights. The session was highly engaging, with active participation, questions, and highlighting their growing impact on society, the importance of early diagnosis, and the challenges faced by both patients and caregivers.
